QNF Looks Back On 2020

QNF 2020 recap from Mark O’Brien on Vimeo.

During our 19th online Quaran-Tea Dance event this past Sunday, a video created by Steering Committee member Mark O’Brien debuted and we wanted to share it with everyone.

It has been quite the year. This video is the SF Bay Area Queer Nightlife Fund’s (QNF) thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Fund, attended our events, staffed our events, DJed or hosted an event, or in any way helped our local workers in queer nightlife get through this difficult time.

As the video highlights, thus far this year we have given out five rounds of grants to struggling workers in local queer nightlife – 348 grants totalling over $268,000. We are currently distributing the payouts for our sixth round of grants.

In addition to fulfilling our initial core mission to help queer nightlife workers with financial aid, QNF has streamed 28 events, presented the talents of 81 DJs, and streamed 100 hours of content on Twitch resulting in 48,000 live views on that platform.

The vaccine is here, but please be safe until you can be vaccinated, and even then continue to practice the behaviors that reduce the community spread of the virus so we can all meet up again on the dance floor.

We know that our local Bay Area queer nightlife will not just return, but it will return more vibrant and thriving than ever.
