Hi everyone. My name is Joe Weidman, aka Jumpr. I’m a dj, party producer, designer and a member of the steering committee for the SF Bay Area Queer Nightlife Fund.
I’ve always felt a kinship with San Francisco long before I moved here. From the citys history around gay rights, leather culture, music and activism, SF contained a magic that I could feel from the moment I got here.
About five years ago, me and seven other pups started Fog City Pack, a leather family built on brotherhood, loyalty and a love of all things kink. Out of that we began throwing three annual parties, starting with the first Alpha back in 2015.
What I thought was just going to be a small side hobby turned out to be a medium through which I could fully express all facets of my creativity. From designing posters to building set pieces to learning to dj, I never dreamed I could feel as creatively fulfilled and supported as I have since I entered the nightlife scene. It has truly changed my life and my chosen families I’ve formed here mean the world to me.
Over the last several weeks I’ve been overwhelmed watching the outpouring of love and support as our community has banded together to lift each other up during the COVID-19 crisis. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that has donated to our fund, streamed our events, shared our posts or simply sent out well wishes and kind thoughts to one another. But we’re not through the woods yet and for as much as we’ve received a positive response, the need of our nightlife community is even greater. If you have the means, please consider donating again so that we can continue to try to help those that make our nightlife scene so vibrant and beautiful.
Words can’t express how excited I am to get through this crisis and to get back out there on the dance floor with all of you. But in the meantime, stay home, stay safe and keep dancing.
